3. Categories
The Photo of the year 2023 category is creative, trendy and personal. In the images of this competition series, you can unleash your creativity and realize your own vision of the Simply Natural brand. With the competition pictures, a personal and editorial hair picture is sought.
In the Simply Natural goes Instagram category, we are looking for an image that is both commercial and feasible for business work. You can take the picture with a mobile phone camera, so you can participate in this category with a low threshold.
- The Simply Natural Photo Awards competition is open to all Simply Natural hairdressers and hairdressing students in Northern Europe.
- Employees of the Simply Natural importer or Simply Natural educators cannot participate in the competition.
- A hairdresser can participate in both categories of the competition, as long as the models are different.
- The hairdresser can participate with one digital image per model.
- Hair images created by artificial intelligence are not allowed.
- The competition takes into account images, when the model has an extension made with Simply Natural material.
- the contest organizer reserves the right to reject images that violate the contest rules. More details about the competition photo in section 6 & 7.
The Photo of the year 2023
The jury is presented with all the participating competition photos without the artists’ information, in which case the scoring is based solely on the photo. The jury will choose the winner, who will be announced on March 17, 2022.

If the votes of the jury are tied, the chairman’s vote will decide the winner.
Judging emphasis:
- 70% hair and creative use of Simply Natural material
- 30% overall (model, makeup, color, cut)
Simply Natural goes Instagram
All photos tagged with #snphotoaward2023 and @simplynaturalfinland in the caption during the competition will participate in the Simply Natural goes Instagram category. The jury will choose the winner, who will be announced on the @simplynaturalfinland Instagram account on March 17, 2023 at 6 p.m.
The jury consists of four talented Finnish hairdressers:

Judging emphasis:
- 50% commerciality and feasibility of the competitive image in business work.
- 30% implementation, style, and overall look of the competition picture.
- 20% fit with Simply Natural’s brand and image.
Photo of the year 2023 category
- Winner €1,500.00 (incl. VAT 24%) gift card to Kinnunen Oy
- 2nd place €1000.00 (incl. VAT 24%) gift card to Kinnunen Oy
- 3rd place €500.00 (incl. VAT 24%) gift card to Kinnunen Oy.
The profit cannot be converted into money and must be used within 12 months. The winners are responsible for any tax consequences.
Simply Natural goes Instagram category
The hairdresser who wins the competition will win a €500.00 (incl. VAT) gift card to Kinnunen Oy.
With the competition pictures, we are looking for a personal hair picture that fits Simply Natural’s brand and image.
Competition photos must be previously unpublished, and photos must not be published before February 20, 2022. If the photo is published before then, the competitor will be disqualified from the competition. Competing hairdressers must have full rights to the photo they send to the competition.
Sending competition photos and photo characteristics:
- images must comply with international press standards, minimum size A4 = 2480 x 3508 px – maximum size A3 = 3508 x 4960 px / 300 DPI, file format JPEG or TIF
- in addition to the competition work, a photo of the model must be submitted before the extension.

In connection with the competition photos, the following must be submitted:
- Name, address and phone number of hairdresser/competitor
- Name, address and telephone number of the salon
- Model name
- Photographer’s name
- Make-up artist’s name
- information about the hair material used; technique, shade, size, texture (straight, wave or curly) and package quantity
By participating in the competition, you hand over the right to use the competition photo to the competition organizer Kinnunen Oy. Kinnunen Oy can use images in Simply Natural’s and Kinnunen Oy’s social media and printed materials. In connection with the use of pictures, the names of the competitor, photographer and make-up artist are always mentioned.
With the competition photos, we are looking for full extension or partial extension work to be carried out in business, which is commercial and fits Simply Natural’s brand and image.
The competition photos must be unpublished before and the competing hairdresser must have full rights to the published photo.

- before and after picture as a Carousel post
- tag @simplynaturalfinland in the caption on Instagram and use the hashtag #snphotoaward2023
- pictures participating in the competition that are published on social media between 1st of December 2022 and 12th of February 2023, and pictures published outside of this time will not be included in the competition
By participating in the competition, you hand over the right to use the competition photo to the competition organizer Kinnunen Oy. Kinnunen Oy can use images in Simply Natural and Kinnunen Oy’s social media. In connection with the use of images, the contestant’s own Instagram account is always mentioned.
